Here is a beautiful – yet a bit emotional – song for this Friday. Luther Vandross was an American musician, born in 1951 in NYC, and died in 2004 at the young age of 54. He wrote this song shortly after he suffered a stroke that eventually caused his death; he unfortunately never had a chance to perform this song live. The song is about his father who died when Luther was young. Luther’s most fond memory of his dad was him dancing in the house with the kids – which you’ll hear about when you listen. The song won Grammy awards in 2004 for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Song Of The Year; the album also won for Best R&B Album.
