The spice girls are an English pop group that was formed in 1994. The group is made up of Mel B (sporty spice) Emma Bunton (baby spice) Geri Halliwell (ginger spice) and Victoria Beckham (posh spice). These cover names were given to them in 1996 by Pops magazine. Their “girl power” mantra made them the biggest cultural icons of the 1990s. I WAS OBSESSED WITH THEM! (Jessica). Their hit single “Wannabe” is an upbeat tempo dance song that talks about the value of female friendship and the heterosexual bond. One fun fact about them is that they were Nelson Mandela’s hero.
