Thank you to my cousin Taylor for this guest post!
Dusty Springfield, born Mary O’Brien, was a British singer in the 1960s. She had an incredibly unique, emotive voice that made her one of the great soul singers of her time. This song, Son of a Preacher Man was originally written for Aretha Franklin, whose father was a famous minister, but Springfield made it into one of her biggest hits, proving that she could handle music made for the queen of soul.
