Funkadelic is a funk rock band from New Jersey, formed in 1968 and active until 1982. The story/legend of this song is that when they were in the studio, high on LSD, George Clinton told the guitarist, Eddie Hazel, to play as if his mother had just died. This 10-minute song/solo was subsequently recorded in one take.
