Gary Clark Jr. – When My Train Pulls In

Gary Clark Jr. Blak and Blu Album Cover

Song: When My Train Pulls In

Artist: Gary Clark Jr.

Album: Blak and Blu (2012)

Gary Clark Jr. is a killer on the guitar, constantly putting out great blues/rock/soul music. Eric Clapton has even said he hasn’t seen a guitar flow like Gary Clark Jr.’s since Jimi Hendrix. Clark is from Austin, Texas, and as a child got the nickname “Hotwire” because he would sneak out and take his mom’s car to go listen to live Blues music at night. He started as a broke musician, breaking out back in 2010 when he played at multiple music festivals, such as the Crossroads Festival. This song will give you a good feel for his music. Here’s a live performance of this song. And you can watch his NPR Tiny Desk performance here to see him up-close and personal.
