Mr. Big – To Be With You

To Be With You is a soft rock ballad written by Mr. Big. It was composed by Eric Martin during his teen years with guitarist Paul Gilbert who also has a song that made it onto this album. This song is about a man who had his eye on someone who has a heartbreak from a relationship. Martin was able to relate to this experience because when he was a sophomore in high school, he hid his feelings about a girl he had a crush on. The lyrics relate to his personal experiences of hiding his feelings for his sister’s friend.
