After the tragic suicide of Ian Curtis in 1980, post-punk band Joy Division regrouped as New Order. New Order’s integration of post-punk with electronic and dance music made them one of the most acclaimed and influential bands of the 1980s. Age of Consent was written after an article in a British newspaper that claimed the age of consent should be lowered, because people were having sex younger and younger.
