Sjowgren (pronounced “show grin”) is an American indie pop trio based in San Francisco. The band consists of three members – Chase, Paul, and Alex – who met while studying at Stanford University. Since their formation in 2015, Sjowgren has gained a devoted following thanks to their unique sound and thoughtful songwriting.
Their song Seventeen was featured in a commercial in 2016 and then took off in popularity recently. It has since been featured in several TV shows and movies.
Seventeen is a great song to listen to in the morning to get your day off to a great start. The song begins with a dreamy guitar riff that sets the mood for the nostalgic lyrics that follow. It is a hauntingly beautiful song that captures the complexity of adolescence with honesty and grace.
Sjowgren’s music has been compared to that of bands like The Paper Kites, Bon Iver, and The xx, but their sound is truly their own. With each release, the band continues to evolve and push the boundaries of indie-pop.
