Yesterday a friend asked me if I had listened to Metro Boomin’s new album. I was confused because I didn’t know there was a new album. Then I saw that only yesterday he released the Villains Version of his latest studio album, HEROES & VILLAINS.
Clocking in at almost two hours, the new edition features the ChoppedNotSlopped mixes of all 15 songs, as well as the original tracks heard in the December 2022 release. The Villains Version serves as the counterpart to the Heroes Version — an instrumental edition released a few days after the December album.
Leland Tyler Wayne, known professionally as Metro Boomin, is an American record producer, record executive, and DJ. He is known for his dark production style and its influence on modern hip hop and trap. Wayne gained mainstream success after producing the song “Tuesday” by iLoveMakonnen and Drake, which reached number 12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Wayne subsequently produced the U.S. top-20 singles “Jumpman” by Drake and Future and “Low Life” by Future featuring the Weeknd before attaining his first number one with “Bad and Boujee” by Migos.
HEROES & VILLAINS marked Metro’s first solo LP in four years. Back in 2018, he made his full-length debut with Not All Heroes Wear Capes. That project went on to become a commercial success, grabbing the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 and also picking up a Platinum certification.
