*Guest post from my cousin Taylor*
Today’s song per day is Everlong by the Foo Fighters in memory of beloved Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died tragically last Friday (March 25th) at the age of 50. The band was on tour in South America at the time, they have since canceled all of their upcoming tour dates.
Hawkins was known as a legendary drummer, which says a lot in a band fronted by famed Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. Over the past week tributes to Hawkins have poured in from across the music world. Here are just a few:
“Not only was he a GREAT drummer but his personality was big and shiny and will be missed by all who were lucky to live and work alongside him” – Paul McCartney
“Taylor’s frightening talent was always an inspiration…and he was unique in many ways” – Mick Fleetwood
“I love you Taylor Hawkins” – Chad Smith (RHCP)
And from his own band: “ The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”
Taylor will be sorely missed but his music will live on.
