Lous and the Yakuza – Dilemme

Marie-Pierra Kakoma, known professionally as Lous and the Yakuza, is a 26 year old Congolese-Belgian singer, rapper, songwriter, model, and artist. Dilemme is her debut single, which was released in 2019. Kakoma adopted the moniker Lous and the Yakuza from an anagram for soul, the source of her musical passion, and Yakuza, Japan’s organized crime syndicate, the name of which she uses to describe her “crew” of collaborators whom she relies on create her music. Kakoma was first discovered by her manager, Miguel Fernandez, after he found her releases on the internet.

The genre-fluid artist blends sultry hip-hop with harsh trap beats to create tracks that are both a declaration of her resilience and an exploration of Generation Z concerns, including race, loneliness and despair.

About the song Dilemme, Kakoma said “The hook says, ‘I don’t know if I should be alone or stay with the people I love.’  And, the reason I’m scared to stay is because, the more I love someone, the more the person is likely to hurt me.  I really don’t swallow pain right and I’m not really expressive about it most of the time.”
