Zach Hurd, who performs under the stage name Bay Ledges, makes music with experimental sounds, using different instruments and mixers to create while paying tribute to the artists he looks up to. His beachy alt-pop songs merge folky guitar with glitchy bedroom electronic production.
After relocating from coastal Maine to Los Angeles in 2015, Zach Hurd recorded Bay Ledges’ debut single, “Claire,” with his sister Georgia as a tribute to their late grandmother.
Float is from his debut album, Ritual, which was released in late 2022. ‘Float’ is about the complexity of grief,” Hurd explains. “How it’s made me feel really heavy and alone, but has also inspired hope and led to some beautiful moments. I feel like the video strikes that balance of melancholy and lightheartedness.”
